| 1. Opening and warm up 2-5 minutes |
Questions like, "How are you this afternoon, Mr. Tanaka?"; "What are your plans for the weekend?"; "Did you enjoy you trip to Hawaii last Sunday?" This is also a good time to ask questions you have been saving all week for your instructor. |
| 2. Recycle & Review 5 minutes |
It is very important to RECYCLE and REVIEW old material to keep it fresh. Games and role plays are often used to make reviewing fun and practical. |
| 3. Introduce the lesson focus 3 minutes |
We go through the focus with you so you understand it and can use it correctly throughout the lesson. You will practice examples with your instructor and ask questions. |
| 4. Vocabulary and Story 6-10 minutes |
After going over relevant vocabulary with your instructor, you will go over a short story and talk about it. |
| 5. Discussion 3-5 minutes |
Show off your skills here applying a situation from the story using a situation in your life (or your friend's life) and discuss it. |
| 6. Focus in Use 15 minutes |
In this section, you will work closely with you instructor to practice the focus and use it in practical situations. There may be a discussion where you get a chance to show your instructor what you learned. |
| 7. Wrap up 3-5 minutes |
This is an important step in learning and improving. Your instructor will go over the lesson summary with you: new vocabulary, phrases, idioms and pronunciation points with you. Your instructor will also tell you how you did and give you helpful advice. Your instructor may assign homework. |
